DAY 1 - Zagreb (5th of June 2010)
Your Croatia tour starts at 6:30 p.m. at a welcome reception and dinner at your hotel. This is an excellent first chance to get acquainted your fellow travelers while your guide gives you all the required information about the tour.
DAY 2 - Zagreb (6th of June 2010)
The tour starts with a morning exploration of the Croatian capital - a cultural city with a strong tradition of hospitality. Firstly, you will visit one of the most striking memorial parks in Europe - the Mirogoj Park Cemetery, before continuing through Zagreb’s Old Town to visit St. Stephen’s Cathedral, St. Mark’s Church and the Kaptol and Upper Town districts. No tour of Zagreb is complete without an excursion around the Dolac open-air market which will be visited next. End your Zagreb tour at a traditional restaurant, tasting specialties such as štrukli – a pastry filled with a type of local cream cheese. Spend the rest of the afternoon with a nice cup of coffee in Tkalčićeva Street or visit one of the Zagreb’s many fascinating museums.
DAY 3 – Plitvice (7th of June 2010)
Morning departure for Plitvice National Park. The park is a series of lakes in the heart of Croatia and is renowned for its brilliant turquoise water which is of such breathtaking beauty that no visitor can take their eyes of them. There are 16 lakes in total which are interlinked by several spectacular waterfalls.
Check in at the hotel upon arrival followed by a quick refreshment period before a guided tour will take you to the lower Plitvice lakes in the early afternoon.
Tonight dinner will be served at the hotel.
DAY 4 – Plitvice – Šibenik - Split (8th of June 2010)
The stay in Plitvice is completed this morning as you join our tour leader for the upper lakes tour. This section is partly done on the park’s special road train and the rest by a stunning walk. Say goodbye to the national park with lunch at a very reputable local restaurant.
The drive from Plitvice to Šibenik lasts approximately 3 hours but takes you through the most scenic parts of the Dalmatian hinterland before reaching the extraordinary city. This town boasts a superb, compact old town and features yet another one of Croatia’s UNESCO World Heritage sites - the Cathedral of St. James. Enough time will be reserved to explore Šibenik on your own before departure for Split.
Evening arrival in Split and check in at the hotel. The rest of the day can then be spent at your leisure.
DAY 5 - Split – Trogir (9th of June 2010)
Split is one of the most energetic places in Croatia. It has a vibrant centre built around the remarkable Diocletian's Palace. Diocletian, the Roman Emperor, built this palace in the 3rd Century as his retirement palace and as the Romans left, the locals moved in. This gives Split’s centre the atmosphere of a living, breathing museum.
A guided visit will take you around Diocletian's basements, Jupiter's Temple, the Cathedral and Golden Gate.
After a period at leisure in Split, a short drive up the coast will bring you to Trogir, which is also UNESCO-protected. Your guide will help you make the most of your visit, taking you around the Trogir Loggia and the astonishing Master Radovan’s Portal before finishing this leg of the tour with lunch at a Dalmatian Konoba - a traditional Dalmatian restaurant.
After returning to Split the rest of the day can be used at leisure – We suggest strolling along Split’s Riva promenade, a visit to the spectacular Meštrović gallery or relaxing in one of the many cafe's. Your tour leader is at your service if you require any suggestions or advice.
DAY 6 - Split – Ston -Dubrovnik (10th of June 2010)
The morning’s drive from Split to Ston takes you on a picturesque coastal drive south, past islands such as Brac and Hvar to the head of the Peljesac Peninsula. Ston is a magical place that beholds a fortified wall.
Ston’s oysters are fast gaining an international reputation due to the cleanliness of the water where they are farmed. We cordially invite you to join your traveling companions at a Konoba restaurant for a tasting session of these delectable shellfish.
Afternoon arrival in Dubrovnik and check in at the hotel.
The rest of the day can be spend at your leisure.
DAY 7 - Dubrovnik (11th of June 2010)
Dubrovnik is first on the list of most visitors’ essential destinations in Croatia and for good reason. It is a city of unique political and cultural history and of world-famous beauty. Needless to say that UNESCO has selected it as one of their World Heritage sites as well. Apart from the striking architecture, Dubrovnik also offers many interesting treasures see and experience. The morning begins with a guided tour of the old town which includes the Franciscan Monasteries, one of which boasts the oldest working pharmacy in Europe, the Rector's Palace – once the seat of the independent Dubrovnik Republic and the oldest Sephardic Synagogue in the world.
Explore Dubrovnik in your own time in the afternoon - wander around its lively streets, enjoy a swim at the local beach or take an excursion to the island of Lokrum.
Celebrate the whole trip at the farewell party at a family-run taverna in the nearby village of Čilipi. There’s no better way to do this than over a mouth-watering traditional Dalmatian dish – the finest lamb slowly roasted under a thick iron pan covered in hot coals, all whilst being entertained by local folk musicians.
